Applications for grant aid can be considered both from an individual person or from an organisation.
An application for grant aid must fulfil two basic criteria:
A. It must be to:
• alleviate severe financial hardship; and/or
• help person(s) who is or are infirm, used in it’s widest sense to include illness or those with mental or physical impairment.
B. Those helped (whether directly or via an organisation) must live in Christchurch or (in certain cases) immediately outside it.
“Christchurch” is the area of the former borough and includes Highcliffe, Walkford, Mudeford, Stanpit, Somerford, Purewell, Burton, Christchurch Town, Fairmile, Jumpers, and Hurn. – most, but not all, of the BH23 area
Typically grants range from around £100 to around £10,000. They could be one-off or designed to extend over a year or more with the expectation of further funding to help a continuing project.
